At Tetra we pride ourselves on offering the highest fidelity listening instruments for music aficionados. But what do you do when challenged to come up with the very best that you can do? How do you react when challenged to provide a statement product that pushes the envelope? Welcome to our newest and most capable listening instrument ever - the Tetra 606, a.k.a.: Thee Fraboni.

The 606 stands alone as our first and only 3-way design. As such it incorporates a number of new and unique design elements. The decision was made early on to utilize a dipole air motion transformer (AMT) for the high frequencies. The benefits of the AMT revolve around the lower mass and larger radiating area, versus a more conventional dome tweeter. Lower mass enables the AMT to respond quickly to transient musical signals, while the larger radiating area provides much better resistance to breakup of the musical signal. The low level of distortion allows the AMT to handle musical peaks with ease. Designed to handle high power levels, this driver can deliver "live" listening levels without breakup or hardening of the musical signal. At lower listening levels, extraordinary resolution and transparency clearly reveal the delicate harmonics and nuances of music whether it be the gentle decay of a plucked guitar string or the subtle cymbal work of a great jazz drummer.

Like all Tetra Listening Instruments, the 606 presents amplifiers with an easy impedance load. Whether you have a low-powered tube or high-powered solid-state amplifier, the 606 will deliver exactly what you are looking for. If your musical palette desires subtlety and nuance or visceral impact, the 606 delivers. However, let there be no doubt about this listening instrument. The raison d'être of the 606 is to convey the full scope of a live musical performance. Truly an iron fist in a velvet glove!

The innovative AMT driver, while significant in the 606 design, tells only part of the story. The true magic in our design is the seamless transition from the lighter and faster high frequency driver, to the slower mid-range and bass drivers. The in-house-designed 12" bass driver cleanly resolves the lowest octave, while a 3" ATC mid-range driver, weighing in at an unbelievable 32 lbs, handles the critical mid-range duties. The resistor-free, low parts count, proprietary crossovers ensure no smearing of the musical signal and phase integrity of the waveform. The end result is a transparent window into the music that fully preserves the musician's original intent.

Our 506 took 2-way design to the limit, outperforming most 3-way designs. The 606 goes one step further and challenges the very best products on the market.
